Terms and Conditions for Community Use of Facilities
The Kaneland Community Unit School District #302 Board of Education has adopted a policy of permitting community groups to use school facilities. The Board of Education reserves the right to control and supervise such use, and grant permission as it deems proper. No person, group, organization or firm shall have any vested right to use school facilities. Permission to use school facilities will be contingent on the following factors:
use which is consistent with the public welfare and the purposes of the District
use which promotes benefit to District residents or students
use which in no way might result in damage to District property or physical danger to District students, personnel or the general public
use which is consistent with administrative procedures of the District and the laws and regulations of the State of Illinois
use which in no way is intended to further any program or movement whose purpose is to accomplish the overthrow of the government of the United States or of the state by force, violence or other unlawful means
All requests for facility use shall be made through the On-Line Request system. Each application must state fully:
The applicant’s name, address and telephone number
the specific facility requested and the purpose for which it will be used
the type of program or activity
the materials to be brought into or near the building
the room arrangement, including decorations
needed food and drink service
needed equipment
The Superintendent or his/her designee is authorized to refuse any request if he/she deems such refusal in the best interests of the school district and public.
A responsible official of the organization desiring to use the facilities shall assume full responsibility for the group while the facilities are being used. This official shall be a bona fide resident of the community at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
In all cases of facility use, the user is responsible for maintaining the facility and will be charged for any damages, accidental or intentional, which arise during or result from the use. Charges also will be made against the user if extra time must be spent in cleaning up after the use of the facility.
In all cases of facility use, the user shall indemnify and hold harmless the District and its agents and employees for and from any and all loss including attorneys’ fees, damages, expense and liability arising out of its use of school property.
All groups must supply adequate supervision to ensure proper care and use of school facilities.
The use or possession of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs upon Kaneland School District premises is strictly prohibited. Smoking is not permitted on any public school property by state statute.
No animals are permitted on school district property, other than service animals.
No weapons are permitted on school district property, except for those permitted by law.
