K-5 Summer School

If your student is going to be absent, you need to pick them up early or arrive late, please email Stacey Gacek at stacey.gacek@kaneland.org with the student’s name, grade and dates that will be affected. Please also include your student’s summer school teacher in the email. 

• Pick up and drop off will take place at the front entrance of John Stewart Elementary. 
• You will enter the front entrance and then turn to your right to pull up to the front of the school.   
• If you want to walk up to drop off or pick up your child, please park and walk with your child to cross the parking lot both ways. 
• If you want to have your child get out at the curb, please be sure to pull up as far as possible to allow other parents to drop their students off as well.  
• We do have a few buses that are provided for extended school year students.  Please be cautious when driving past them. 
• Students will line up with their class at the front entrance.
• Arrive between 8:15 and 8:30.
• Please do not arrive before 8:15. There will be no supervision.
• All students will enter the building through Door #1 promptly at 8:30.  
• Someone will be out front until 8:35 to allow students into the building. 
• If you arrive after 8:35, your child can enter through the front office.

If your student is staying for the full day session and medication will need to be administered, please fill out this form and email it to Stacey Gacek at stacey.gacek@kaneland.org or bring the form and the medication to the office on the first day of summer school.  The form needs to be signed by the physician or you can stop by your school and get the form from last school year.  School hours this summer 9-2 Mondays-Thursdays. You will pick up the medication on the last day your child attends summer school.

You will pick up your child after the session is over in front of the school at Door 1.

Your student should bring their school assigned chromebook fully charged daily.

Check with your child’s teacher to see what supplies are needed for the core content class. No supplies are needed for Engagement Camps or Day Camp.
