Common Core Standards

We are so excited to be off to a great start this year. Each year brings new and welcome changes, and this year we will have a shift in our math curriculum and behavior structures. As you may know, the state of Illinois adopted new state standards this past January; they are the national Common Core Standards. This set of standards has been adopted by 38 out of the 50 states. With this new adoption, we will be revising our local curriculum maps, a transition that will take place during this school year.

Please see the attached memo in regards to this topic. More »

School Visitor Policy Update

Visitors are always welcome at Kaneland John Stewart Elementary School, provided their presence will not be disruptive to teaching and learning. In order to maintain a safe environment, all visitors must report to the school office, sign in and provide photo identification. The identification will be held throughout the duration of the visit, allowing us to report the name of anyone in the building at any given time. Leaving keys in the office will no longer meet the visitor requirements. Thank you for your cooperation.
