The 2012 edition of the Harter Middle School Wrestling squad will be unveiled on Monday, October 29 in a home meet with Aurora Jewel. The meet is scheduled to begin around 4:15 and this year's squad appears to be very talented albeit a little on the young side. Please consider supporting the Knights as they begin their season!

There will be a meeting for all parents of middle school wrestlers on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the South Gym. This is a mandatory meeting and will allow you the opportunity to formally meet the wrestling coaches, and provide a venue for the coaches to explain the rules and expectations for the athletes.

8th Grade Prairie Conference Champs in Volleyball

The 8th Grade Volleyball team despite entering the tournament as a 3 seed, walked away with the championship trophy on Saturday, October 6. The ladies saved their best volleyball of the season for day long tournament on their home courts. The ladies defeated Plano, Yorkville, and Bednarcik to win the Conference Tournament. The win in the semifinals against the Foxes was the first of the season after two previous losses. This group of girls also were Prairie Conference Champions in 7th grade. Congratulations to all of the team members and Coach DeBoer on a great season.

Cross Country Earns Return Trip to Normal

The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the IESA Sectional at Yorkville on Saturday, Oct. 6. This was only the second time ever that Kaneland Harter Middle School entered the state tournament series. Katie Moore, a 7th Grader, and Noah Duffy an 8th grader qualified as individuals and will run at the State Tournament in Normal, on Saturday, October 13. The girls team finished 4th out of 14 schools and the boys finished 6th. The girls missed qualifying as a team by a mere 10 points, as the top three teams qualify. Congratulations to all who competed on Saturday as the majority had PR's in their biggest meet of the season. Special thanks to Coach Fredrickson, Coach Frankel and Coach Hoepner for all their work thus far.

Geneva North and Tournament Info for 8th Grade Football Knights!

St. Charles Haines Tournament Info

We have drawn Geneva North on Oct. 3 at 4:15 on the upper field at Haines, not the main stadium. If we win that game we advance to the semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 11 against the winner of Wredling and Geneva South at 4:15. A win on the 3rd, guarantees to more games the following week. A bracket will be sent home!

September 27, 2012 Vs Geneva North (65* wind 10-15 mph)

Geneva North began by running 4 plays and turning the ball over on downs to the

Knights. Kaneland went 59 yards in 3 plays to score and kick the conversion to go ahead 7-0.

That would be enough to win, but was just the start of another game of fireworks. The Knights

had the ball 8 times and scored on 7 possessions. Geneva’s second possession was stymied with

a 20 yard loss caused by Noel. Kaneland scored in 3 plays, 13-0. Geneva was held on downs,

and then Kaneland was intercepted for their only stop of the night. Geneva fumbled the ball right

back. The Knights went 44 yards in 2 plays, kick good, 20-0. Geneva’s 9 play drive stalled, and

Kaneland marched 66 yards in 3 plays, kick good, 27-0. Geneva fumbled the ball, and the

Knights went 25 yards in 4 plays to finish the scoring for the first half, kick good, 34-0.

Kaneland picked up the charge in the second half going 62 yards in 2 plays, 40-0. This started a

running clock. Geneva took advantage of Kaneland’s changed defense, going 63 yards in 9 plays

to score, 40-6. Kaneland answered one last time going 55 yards in 4 plays, 46-6. There was no 5th quarter. Final Score Kaneland 46 Geneva North 6. Record 6 – 2.

Wrestling Begins Oct. 15

Wrestling will begin for all athletes in Grades 6, 7, and 8 on Monday. Oct. 15. Athletes are reminded they must have a current physical on file as well as a current insurance waiver on file in order to tryout. Athletes that participated in a fall sport will have already provided a copy of their physical and can disregard this request. Parents are reminded that the player bus no longer exists so you will need to arrange for pickup after practice. Consider making those carpools sooner rather than later. Athletes will be expected to pay an $120 athletic fee.
