Excel Edge ACT 36 Classes Begin January 26 at Kaneland High School!

November 7, 2008

Dear Parent:

The ACT exam is an important test to all high school juniors in Illinois. Typically taken by students in the spring of their junior year it is required by most universities and colleges in the country as part of the admissions process. Also, the ACT is part of the Illinois Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE), which is taken by all juniors in April. ACT/PSAE scores are noted on the students’ high school transcript.

To assist students in preparing for the ACT, we have arranged for Excel Edge Inc. to offer ACT 36, a comprehensive ACT preparation course to juniors at Kaneland High School. Excel Edge Inc. offers this program in a number of other Chicago area high schools, including those in Geneva, Glenbrook, Naperville and St. Charles. We believe the ACT 36 program offers several advantages over most other ACT preparatory programs; reasonable cost, small class size, and experienced instructors. In addition, a simulated ACT test and college applications strategies are included in the program.

A description of the ACT 36 course and an enrollment form will be mailed in November. Please review and share it with your junior student. To register for the course, complete the enrollment form and send it, along with a check for $210.00 made out to Kaneland High School, to the High School Student Services Office. The registration deadline is December 15.

Class dates: Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 starting January 26, Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 23, March 2, March 9, March 16 Practice Test (5:30 to 9:00), & March 23.

Because of the importance of the ACT in the college admissions process, I encourage each junior and their parent to consider Excel Edge. For more information about ACT 36 please visit our student services web site (www.kaneland.org/khs/guidance) or contact Student Services Office at 630-365-5100, Andrew Franklin (ext 214) or Cynthia Violett (ext 212).

Sincerely,

Cynthia Violett

Each University is different with multiple forms and additional paper work. We recommend that the students do an On-Line Application, which is weeks faster! Students should be very careful with the Admissions Deadlines and it is expected to have all Applications for Early Admissions looked at from the Universities Web Site. We push students to complete Applications by Halloween, October 31st.
